AAUW’s Mission
AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. We’ve led the fight for fair pay and economic opportunity for women — and the battle continues: Women still get just 84 cents for every dollar paid to a man, and men continue to dominate the top roles and highest-paying professions.
AAUW’s Value Promise
By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women and girls have a fair chance.
Though we are nonpartisan, we are not values-neutral: We fight to remove the barriers and biases that stand in the way of gender equity. We train women to negotiate for pay and benefits and to pursue leadership roles. And we advocate for federal, state and local laws and policies to ensure equity and end discrimination.
AAUW Dallas History
AAUW Dallas traces its history to a small group of college educated women that came together in 1908 to share their interests in reading, education, and issues of their day. Today, AAUW Dallas’s activities include scholarships, book clubs, and member meetings with mission-based speakers.
